Pedicab Operational in North Jakarta Still Rampant

Although the pedicab raid keeps being intensified in North Jakarta, yet its existence is still rampant in some areas. 

As for Penjaringan and Kelapa Gading Sub-District, are nihil. If there are so, they do not operate on protocol roads

Based on beritajakarta.com observations, mostly pedicab are roaming along Jalan Bugis towards Jalan Yos Sudarso, Jalan Semper Raya, around Kebon Bawang, Lagoa and so on. 

"I have been operating this pedicabs for almost half year after there is a ban for pedicab operational in Jakarta. I have no choice as I worked odd jobs with uncertain income," said Sunandar (47), one of the pedicab drivers, Sunday (9/6). 

6 Pedicabs in Kramat & Kwitang Netted

The income as a pedicab driver, he said, is quite much. He can earn Rp 100,000-Rp 150,000 per day. 

Head of North Jakarta Satpol PP, Iyan Sophian Hadi uttered his side has often held pedicab raid. Throughout January-August 2015, the officer managed to control more than 200 pedicabs from Tanjung Priok, Pademangan, Cilincing and Koja Sub-Districts. 

"Most of pedicabs operate in those sub-districts. As for Penjaringan and Kelapa Gading Sub-District, are nihil. If there are so, they do not operate on protocol roads," he explained.
